How are we funded?
#1 We rely on donors. Donors who know about our center and want to help these abandoned babies with the necessities of life.
#2 There are some infants that are adopted Internationally and these adoptive parents provide a contribution to the center that almost covers the cost of the expenses we encored since we received the infant.
#3 National Guineans who adopt from our center pay a small handling fee for paperwork and administration.
#4 The Source of Life Infant Rescue Center is committed to providing its donors with a reliable way to make a difference in the lives of orphaned and abandoned children in Guinea through a well-run, efficient non-profit organization.
What are our financial needs?
Our goal is that all of our children will be adopted into loving families. The laws in Guinea require us to keep a child for 12 months before they can be released for adoption. Because we receive children under 1 year of age we require more staff than a center that has older children who are walking, possibly a few years old and able to do some things for themselves. We keep a staff to child ratio of 1 staff for every 4 infants. This is the ratio for our day staff team and a night staff team. We also have a lady who does the washing (all by hand) and a lady who prepares the food and does housecleaning. Many of the babies we receive are in poor physical health so our center employs a trained medical Pediatrician who visits us 5 times a week and most importantly we have our Administrator and her assistant. Our estimated cost per child per month is $350US.
What are our Equipment Needs:
- We are in need of baby bottles and replacement nipple
- Cloth diapers
- Disposable exam gloves
